Professor of Environmental Science & Health and Director of Instruction and Research for Alpine Science Institute at Central Wyoming College, Lander, Wyoming
Jacki has been teaching, leading, and traveling in wilderness environments for more than twenty years and cites inspiring and educating students as two of her primary passions. She has found an avenue for combining backcountry travel, student research, and applications of geospatial technology into one adventure-filled package culminating in ICCE – the Interdisciplinary Climate Change Expedition to the Dinwoody Glacier located in Shoshone National Forest.
Whether leading wilderness expeditions, orchestrating student field trips to sample surface or groundwater, or conducting ecology-based treks to Yellowstone National Park, Jacki’s goal remains fixed: enhancing student learning by providing a well-designed classroom experience supported by field-based educational opportunities. When not teaching in the classroom or in the field, Jacki can be found endurance cycling and skate skiing. Her undergraduate degree (BS) is in Geography from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and she holds an MS in Biology from Saint Joseph University, West Hartford, Connecticut.
