Rocky Mountain Alliance for Minority Participation (RM-AMP) Fall Meeting
The Rocky Mountain Alliance for Minority Participation (RM-AMP) held its annual meeting at Colorado State University-Fort Collins on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024. Of the 37 attendees, nine site coordinators from RM-AMP’s 12 partner institutions attended and updated the audience on the high impact practices they are engaging students with, such as: providing opportunities for early engagement in research; sponsoring students to attend professional STEM conferences; and creating a “web” of mentoring support with graduate student mentors and faculty.
Attendees also heard presentations from Felecia Nave, PhD, Division Director for the Division for Equity for Excellence in STEM, National Science Foundation and RM-AMP senior leadership: Ernest Chavez, PhD, Josh Prasad, PhD, and Danni Gardner, PhD.
Jacki Klancher, Central Wyoming College (CWC), and three former CWC students (Aidan Hereford, Jada Antelope, and Albert Mason) also spoke about their summer research experiences. These student experiences, as well as the research shared by four Bridge to the Doctorate Fellows and four summer research undergraduate students, brought RM-AMP’s mission to life and reinvigorated the attendees.
