RM-AMP has several programming opportunities that address our specific goals and objectives.
The goal of the RM-AMP Bridge to the Doctorate (BD) program is to increase the quantity and quality of STEM graduate students from underrepresented populations, with emphasis on Ph.D. matriculation and completion.
In addition, increasing research participation for undergraduates continues to be a primary goal of RM-AMP. Building students’ scientific identities increases academic engagement, and developing both summer and early research experiences, is one of the most effective avenues for attracting and retaining talented students in science and engineering careers. Research experience is considered a “high-impact practice” that increases an undergraduate student’s likelihood of remaining in their major and finishing their degree in a STEM field.
