Bridges to the Doctorate at Towson University
The Bridges to the Doctorate Program provides students interested in earning a PhD in the biomedical sciences with the opportunity to earn a fully funded Master’s degree in Biology from Towson University (TU).
We have partnered with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to offer eligible students a comprehensive training and mentoring program that includes:
- Stipend (NIH NRSA levels) and tuition waiver
- Thesis based masters research @ TU
- Summer research internship at JHUSOM (pre-matriculation)
- Summer research internship at UMSOM (Summer 1)
- Participation in mentoring and professional development focused on building research skills, career exploration, and applying to PhD programs
- Weekly cohort meetings focused on building community and lifelong friendships
- MS and doctoral level coursework at TU, UMSOM, and JHUSOM
- Travel to present research at conferences
Eligibility
This program is designed to support individuals from groups underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. More details can be found here.
Priority review begins January 1 and applications are reviewed until spots are filled or March 25.
