RM-AMP Student Daniel Dominguez Receives Marshall Scholarship and NSF GRFP

Daniel Dominguez, a watershed science major in Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources, received a prestigious Marshall Scholarship as announced by the British government which gives American students the opportunity to study at the United Kingdom’s top academic institutions. Dominguez will attend Scotland’s University of Glasgow in September 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in sustainable water environments. After that, he will attend either the University of Oxford or the University of East Anglia in England for further study.
In 2021, Dominguez also received a Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) award from the National Science Foundation, which provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM.
During the summers of 2019 and 2020, Dominguez participated in RM-AMP’s Summer Research Initiative (SRI) with the Rocky Mountain Science and Sustainability Network at Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks where he performed field collections and trained in phenology and specimen identification. He co-authored, “So, you want to use iNaturalist for your project? Tips to effectively utilize citizen science and technology for pollinator biodiversity research,” which was presented at the Ecological Society of America’s annual conference. In addition to his accomplishments and honors, Dominguez was chosen as Colorado State University’s fall 2020 commencement speaker for the Warner College of Natural Resources.
