Mote offers a variety of exciting opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students seeking hands-on research experiences in marine STEM. We hop you will share these opportunities with your students.
MarSci-URE PReP
Do you know undergraduate students that might not feel quite ready for a full research experience? Marine Science Undergraduate Research Experience Professional and Research Preparation (MarSci-URE PReP) is a one-week immersive residential program designed to enhance the prerequisite science research and career skills of students from underrepresented minority populations for participation in undergraduate research experiences. Stipend, travel accommodations and housing provided.
Mote Undergraduate Research Experience
Modeled after the NSF REU program, this program offers research training experiences in marine and estuarine science to 10 undergraduate students during a 10-week period between May and August. NSF REU participants are paired with Mote scientists and conduct mentored research projects related to their advisor’s expertise.
NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates
Since 2003, Mote Marine Laboratory has been a host site for the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program. The NSF REU Program offers research training experiences in estuarine science to 10 undergraduate students during a 10-week period between May and August. NSF REU participants are paired with Mote scientists and conduct mentored research projects related to their advisor’s expertise.
