Northwestern University would like to welcome you to apply to the Northwestern University Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (NU-MRSEC) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) 2023 program!
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable research experience while connecting with your peers at a world-class institution. You will be working on a research project with experienced graduate and postdoctoral associate mentors, directed by a renowned full-time faculty member. Our research disciplines include Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Applied Physics, and host over 30 contributing faculty. Some of our REU students have also had interests in other academic areas, including biomedical applications and cultural heritage, and their research projects were tailored to meet their interests and career goals! Successful applicants are offered a $5,000.00 stipend, on campus housing, and a generous travel allowance. Our close proximity to Chicago offers you the chance to visit world-class museums and tourist attractions, restaurants, and cultural institutions.
To apply to our program, you must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, and you must not have yet completed your undergraduate degree before the program starts. For more information about our program and a link to our online application, please visit our webpage.
At the conclusion of our REU program, some students choose to participate in our REU+ program, a tuition-free quarter of study at Northwestern, designed to give you a taste of what it would be like to be a graduate student at NU!
