Careers in Bioenergy Student Symposium
The Careers in Bioenergy Student Symposium is a one-day, immersive event for undergraduate students interested in learning about the bioenergy field. It is co-organized by the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, and Argonne National Laboratory and will be hosted on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Argonne National Laboratory.
The objectives of the symposium are:
- Expose students to leading-edge research on bioenergy technologies and their real-world applications.
- To increase students’ interest in bioenergy technology and broaden their access to opportunities to pursue that interest.
- Help students learn about career opportunities in the bioenergy technology field and how to pursue them.
- Inform students about future educational and research opportunities available to them.
The activities during the symposium include:
- Short research presentations on Circular Bioeconomy-Biofuels and Bioproducts and Water-Energy Nexus.
- Tours of Argonne facilities.
- Networking opportunities with researchers.
- Networking opportunities with utility and industry professionals.
- Internship application strategies.
Panel discussions on career paths in bioenergy technology.

Time: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CT
Location: Argonne National Laboratory
Eligibility: This event is open to all undergraduates students. Students from historically underrepresented groups in STEM are strongly encouraged to attend.
Deadlines: Registration is due no later than Monday, February 19, 2024 at 11:45 p.m. CT. Please register at the link below.
Note: There is no registration fee. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.
